How many books do you have on your to be read shelf?
The shocking number: 130 physical books
Tis the question for this week's Book Blogger Hop and I'm a bit shocked to find this number out. What about you all? Were you shocked to know how many books are waiting to be read on your shelf? I guess when my books look all nice and organized on my shelf it's easy to forget just how many there are! They've been slowly accumulating. There are more books on my digital TBR shelf on my Shelfari and Goodreads. And I didn't count devotional type books or library books either. If I read two books a week for the next year I wouldn't get through them all! And I'm starting school soon so my leisure reading time is sure to be cut. What do I do! A few, maybe ten, of these were children's books so they'll read fast but... I fear I too have gone crazy for books! Swing by Jen's Hop post in the link above, sign up your blog, and check out other's posts to find out how many books are waiting on their TBR shelves.
So, I was supposed to have finished Northanger Abbey by today as part of a readalong. However, I haven't been able to find it for the past three days...so, epic fail! I was looking forward to finishing it, too, so hopefully as I pack tomorrow it will turn up.
Pack? Yes, I'm going camping this weekend (leaving Sat. morning) and will be back next Tuesday night! Lots to do: dishes, grocery shopping, drop the cat off at a relative's, brother-in-laws coming to town to go with us... and I have to be up in five hours for work! I hope to finish N.A. (if I can find it) and continue working on The Passage. Okay, signing off!
LOL @ your TBR pile. I havent counted mine, but I know there's less than 15 :) - that is books that I own that I havent read yet and am meaning to read. but i visit my library a couple of times a week and bring home armloads of stuff, so i have a transient book population.
ReplyDeletehave fun camping! i cant wait to read The passage - i have it on reserve at my library
Hey - just hoppin' by! Hope you have a great weekend! Stop by The Wormhole and say hi!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Camping!!
ReplyDeleteYou lost the book?! You doofus :) If lost a book I was reading, I'd be beside myself until I found it.
I have about 70 something books on my TBR. I'm sure it should be more than that, but I'm not all that serious about my TBR, so the real figure is probably more like 7000, so I won't let myself worry too much about it.
Have fun camping - no camping for me this weekend as Gary's down in Adelaide (hopefully) buying us a bush retreat on the Murray River! Woo hoo!!
I am hopping in for the blog hop. I'm a follower, too!
ReplyDeleteI have so many I am afraid of them - what if they turn into mutant zombie books because of neglect?
If you have time, drop in and say hi at Manga Maniac Cafe
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I've started following yours - I like your blog and it looks like a lot of fun! Happy hopping!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ losing a book! Like Amanda, I would be going crazy trying to find it! Heck, if I leave a book at work, I have to go back there to get it. I can't just start another one!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your TBR number! I fear that I may just be a bit TOO crazy for books....I was guesstimating at 700. I haven't counted them in a while. Maybe I'll do that this weekend. That would be fun... :)
Still waiting to hear how you are liking The Passage!!!
Hi, Chelle!
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by! I'm already a follower of your blog.
Yeah, school gets in the way of leisure reading. And the books just keeps on coming!
Cheers!

Musings of a Reader Happy
My LibraryThing account lists my number of TBR books at 827 as of this morning. That has got to be about a book a day for 2 years and 2 months. I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who puts a book down and forgets where it is. Have fun camping!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from the Hop...My #TBR didn't surprise me, I can feel the 200+ books staring at me accusingly from my shelves! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteAAH! You can't find a book? That's horrible! Now how will you find out how it ends? (always bugs me when I lose stuff in general)
ReplyDelete130 phyiscal books.. That's really a lot. Mine doesn't add up to that number (yet).. I think..
Update: Due to reader "outrage" over my lost book I went looking for Northanger Abbey and what was lost is now found! It was burried in a backpack under a rain jacket. It rained a few days ago and I haven't used my jacket since so that's where my book's been hiding. Thought y'all might like to know. =)
ReplyDeleteRecently I've begun reading two-three books at a time so I've been digging into other books while N.A. was missing. It's been slow going for me in The Passage... I'm not the biggest fan of books with several significant characters. So, part one was hard for me to get through all the character introductions. But the story's begining to change now and getting very interesting! So, I'm hopeful I'll like this one.
LOL how did you manage to lose a book?! Have fun camping! I haven't been in years and I'm super jealous ;)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't take long for the TBR pile to grow, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower. Just hopping by to see what is new.
Happy Friday,

ReplyDeletemy tbr number is a little high right now, too--but to be fair, I'm also including all the classics and such that I'd like to read "someday." The actual pile on my desk is much smaller ;)
